Leah Rapley, Founder

Hey Ya'll! That's right, you're looking at a Texas girl born and raised!

I started this blog because I have always been curious about my roots. My curiosity (yes, please call me Mrs. Curiosity because I'm always asking questions)  led me on a high school trip across the Atlantic to Ghana so that I could get acquainted with the "Motherland", as folks like to call it. Well, to my surprise, I felt just as foreign there as I felt in the United States.  It took working with Afro-Bolivians on a Davidson College study abroad trip to Bolivia, to find a place that felt like home. Despite not having any Latin Americans in my family (to my knowledge), the Afro-Bolivian community just felt 'right', all warm and fuzzy  (hmm... *insert thinking emoji*).

So, as typical Mrs. Curiosity (me) does, the wheels in my head started turning. This odd revelation left me with many questions about my identity and the concept of connectedness between African Diasporic (not a word but I am making it one) communities across the globe.

And now we are here, so join me as I cross oceans, villages,  and mountains to explore the thread that binds  African descendant communities.
